Drill Sequence, 2025

Produced using multiple open-source generative artificial intelligence networks, ‘Drill Sequence’ takes as its ostensible subject the exercise routines and drills of the military culture. The work consists of 8-second video frames each prompted by the artist in which various cadences of voices and bodily movements digress into distinct studies. The work is composed of two-channel sound, with one channel consisting of the artist reading out-loud the prompts that were fed to the networks to produce the frames. The prompts were taken from a 30 steps military warm up routine. Taken together, the work constructs a multi-layered social portrait where militarized spectacle, and information technology collide.
